Who / What is YCT?

So I promised in my first post to give you more information about YCT, the charity I work for and will be cycling in support of this May at Velo Birmingham & Midlands.

Established in 1988, YCT is a mental health and emotional wellbeing charity supporting children, young people, their families and the professionals working with them. In it’s early days YCT supported the immediate local community in Harlow, Essex. Since then YCT has grown rapidly, now providing support in community venues, schools, academies, colleges and alternative provision across Essex and Hertfordshire. YCT supports in excess of 1,000 clients every year, delivering almost 8,000 hours of therapy in the process.

Mental health is constantly in the spotlight these days and there is now an overwhelming need for support from services such as YCT. It is estimated that 1 in 4 people will fight a mental health problem in any given year and that 1 in every 10 children have diagnosable mental health conditions. The work that YCT (and other charities / organisations / individuals) is doing to support these people is invaluable and saves lives. This is one of the many reasons I choose to support the work they / we do.

As a charity, YCT relies on the support and generosity of you, the great British public, to continue being able to support those in need. All the money we manage to raise through Velo Birmingham & Midlands will go towards providing therapeutic support in the local community.
